Lost for words,
And how can this be
Not what we expected to see?
What have we gained
By fighting so much?
I guess not a lot.
Will this ever change?
My hopes are not high -
As so many times,
We reached for the sky -
But all in vain.
Promise me solemnly
As I need to be free
That you will fight for me
As long as it needs to be
On the brink of insanity
Spend some more time with me
To nurture our illiteracy
And lean back on our liberty

I wish I could undo
The things I did to you
If only you could see
What you mean to me
As much as I regret
Whatever I have said
We both know it takes two
To pull us through
If only we could share
How much we really care
I wish I knew the words
That made us stronger
We're a thousand worlds apart
Please take us back to start
And so many years have passed
If we're near of if we're far
No matter where we are
Some things are meant to last
We've got to carry on now
We've got to carry on now

They put up a sign at the place that we loved to go
Choosing a table as the wind starts to pull on our clothes
Sending pictures and postcards home to our friends
Beautiful summer slowly comes to an end
There is a shelter halfway back to our home
A wall of confessions when the rainy season is on
Of lovers and jesters the tales of days long gone by
Lifetimes of stories pass in the blink of an eye
Summer
Everlasting summer
In my mind
All the time
Oh tell me your sweet little lies
And take me again by surprise
One morning comes and we find
10 years have gotten behind
Our backs and the cracks are beginning to show
Windswept shore, the writing was in the sky
Reading the headlines as the seagulls cry
It's hard to pretend we didn't anticipate
The grave implications before it was too late
Summer
Everlasting summer
In my mind
All the time
Oh tell me your sweet little lies
And take me again by surprise
One morning comes and we find
10 years have gotten behind
Our backs and the cracks are beginning to show

The rain keeps pouring down
Starlight on the street
I am here with you
Whereever you may be
The flicker of the flame
Is slowly going down
The last light of the day
Slowly fades away

Steady stream flows to the sea
Where the ocean meets the sand
This is the place we used to be
Where waves prepare to meet their end
And wherever you might be
I will follow
Like a sailboat on high seas
I will follow
And wherever you may roam
I will follow
Waves are bound to take you home
Wave the flags and ring the bells
Promenade the empty streets
Watch the colours fade away
From this box of empty shells
And wherever you might be
I will follow
Like a sailboat on high seas
I will follow
And wherever you may roam
I will follow
Waves are bound to take you home
